Highlights for Fall Travel

Fall Travel was beyond amazing this year and I cannot possibly begin to list everything that was great, but I do have a few highlights!  Enjoy!

  • Cupcake shops scattered all throughout Florida!  I love cupcakes!100_1341
  • Elon’s Football team and their undefeated record in the SOCON!
  • Elon University’s Phi Beta Kappa Chapter (Eta of North Carolina).
  • The weekend of October 16th with the Sunshine Invitational Fair and the Miami Invitational Fair…these programs are top-notch and students who attend these fairs are always so prepared!  There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes in to these fantastic fairs!  Thank you for allowing Elon to come every year!
  • Again meeting with students and their families individually makes my list of highlights!  I appreciate you all taking the time out of your busy schedules to sit down with me and express your interest for Elon University!
  • Flying home for Open House (which just happened to be Halloween Weekend)!
  • The fabulous beaches of Florida!100_1477
  • I became a Diamond Hilton Honors member and a Gold Elite Marriott Rewards member!  If you don’t understand what all of this means, just know that you have to travel A LOT to reach either status! : )
  • Driving back to NC! : )  The leaves on the trees are so beautiful in the Fall!
  • Of course meeting hundreds of WONDERFUL students!  I’m looking forward to reading all of your applications and I’m hoping that if I haven’t met you personally yet, that one day I will see you on campus and have the opportunity to meet you!

Home Sweet Home!!!

After 10 weeks of travel for the Elon Admissions Office, I am finally home! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to travel and I also love the opportunity to meet so many wonderful students. With that said, there is nothing that compares to being able to sleep in your own bed, having a home cooked meal or watching football while you relax on your own couch. It’s the small things in life that you really miss and take for granted. I’m so excited to be home, can’t you tell?!

On the flip side, being home means a transition in office priorities, duties and responsibilities. Tomorrow our office will begin reading applications for Early Action in addition to the Early Decision applications. I’m very excited to begin reading and reviewing applications from students in AL, AR, FL, GA, HI, LA, and MS. There has been a lot of excitement from students who would like to be a part of the class of 2014, which is spilling over to my excitement to get to know students through their applications. Prospective students of the class of 2014, I wish all luck and peace of mind! December 18th will be here before you know it!

Goodbye Georgia, Hello Florida!

As I wrap up my travel in Georgia and ready myself for travel in the big state of Florida, I reflect on some highlights of my 3 weeks in Georgia!  Enjoy!

  • Meeting students from all over Atlanta, GA at the Woodward, Lovett and Westminster Fairs – these were HUGE fairs!  Thank you to all of the College Counseling staff at these high schools!
  • Having lunch at Souper Jenny’s in Midtown Atlanta.  I also enjoyed lunch at Mary Mac’s in Atlanta.
  • Attending Marist High School’s “The Frogs” production – awesome job guys!  I truly enjoyed myself and I am thankful for the invitation!
  • Participating in the Junior Forum at Holy Spirit Preparatory School!  Huge thanks to Cal Kanaly, Director of Guidance and College Counseling for HSPS!
  • Having informal meetings with students and their families at Starbucks and all other designated locations in Atlanta.  Thank you all for your hospitality!
  • Most importantly, I enjoyed meeting hundreds of wonderful students and their families!  I look forward to receiving and reviewing your applications!  Good luck!

I have truly enjoyed my time in Georgia and look forward to my travels in Florida!
