Happy October Everyone! Wow, it has been a while since I’ve made an entry. I’m currently traveling in Florida on behalf of the Admissions Office recruiting students and while I love Florida, it is a big state to drive! : )
I have two MAJOR updates to share with you! First, Elon Football is tied for 1st in the SOCON!!! Our win over Furman this past weekend was a huge win for us with a final score of 19-12. In addition to the team victory on Saturday, “ Terrell Hudgins tied a career-high with 16 catches and piled up 209 yards and one score on his way to becoming the all-time NCAA Division I leader with 331 career grabs,” as stated by the Elon Phoenix website! Go Phoenix and congrats to the football team!
Second, Elon has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa Society and will officially establish a new chapter on campus in Spring 2010! As Dan Anderson with University Relations reports “About 10 percent of U.S. colleges and universities shelter Phi Beta Kappa chapters, and Elon becomes only the seventh institution in North Carolina to meet the high standards of excellence in the arts and sciences advocated by the Society. Chapters currently are active at Duke University, Wake Forest University, Davidson College, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.”
I am so proud of my alma mater and look forward to many more great successes! Go Phoenix!
